Spend a lot of time in the sun? Does your skin seem to become more oily and acne prone in the summer? Are you hesitant to use aggressive treatments or retinols in the summer? We’re here to help! Read on for our tips to attain visible skincare results all while protecting your skin from the sun and continuing your lifestyle.
Stay Hydrated
Hydration can help improve skin elasticity, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles. Dehydrated skin is also more prone to sunburn, which leads us to our next tip: sunscreen!
Use SPF throughout the year, especially in the summer.
Sunscreen is your best friend, and we have many options to choose from! At Lett Aesthetics, we love our sunscreen primers after we apply our skincare routine. A morning sunscreen application isn’t going to protect our skin throughout the day if we are exposed to the sun. Application of sunscreen every 2 hours is key to prevent sun damage or sunburn. Daily Sheer Broad Spectrum SPF 50 is a great, water-resistant option that will keep your skin protected. We also love the Sunscreen + Powder Broad Spectrum SPF 40, which is great for the face and can also be used in your hair part to prevent sunburn.
Cleanse, Exfoliate, and Tone
If you feel like your skin is more sensitive in the summer to retinol, we love the ZO Brightalive Skin Brightener, which is proven to increase luminosity, visibly improve skin clarity, and fade the appearance of dark spots! Adding in ZO 10% Vitamin C to help brighten your complexion and protecting it from further hyperpigmentation will be the best duo to keep your skin radiant all summer long.
Office Aesthetics Treatments
Most of our in-office treatments are still doable in the summer! All of our facials, especially a Diamond Glow facial, would be ideal to remove the dead skin cells that may be resting on the surface and can leave your skin dull. You can also receive microneedling treatments in the summer, as long as you avoid sweating and sun exposure for 48 hours after treatment. Our Lett’s Glow Peel is still appropriate for summertime, but we do recommend avoiding our deeper chemical peel in the summer if you plan on being outside.
